The Barbados Nurses’ Association met all the requirements for organizational status and in May 1996 it was incorporated in the State of New York. It charter members were Nola Nurse, Muriel Bushelle, Joyce Codrington, Marjorie Taitt and Joan Stuart.

The nurses who were contacted responded favorably and their endorsement was evident when the first official meeting was held in October, 1967. A total of thirty members were registered and Mrs. Nola Nurse the founder was elected president.[/tab]
